E46 M3 GTRs pulling out of ALMS

Due to their success in the ALMS (American Le Mans Series), BMW GTRs have been penalised for being too fast. The AOCs have requested the BMW M3 GTRs to add an extra 90kgs in the car and to reduce their power by 20%.

The BMW M3 GTRs are pulling out because it would make their cars uncompetitive.

That is so unfair. What do you guys think?

wheres the fun in racing two brands of car? geee... commodore or falcon... wow, exciting.

i think it stinks. personally, i prefer the showroom showdown racing, more brands, more exciting.

i think that BMW raised the bench mark and until everyone else catches up they should be winning all the races!!!!!!!

do you guys know why the M3GTR got penalize?
Becoz M3GTR are using a non-production engine
A 4000cc V8 444hp engine
that 4000cc V8 is all hand make
the rules is if that engine is not a production engine on a M3
BMW have to make at least ONE M3 is with that 4000cc V8 for sale

That why ^ this car,Street M3 GTR is coming out~but the Street M3 GTR still not have any thing about that car~no produstion date,no nothing~

in this year the rules has been change

the car in GT class at least have to have one car product per week
and then engine have to have not less then 1000 have been producted
if the engine did not meet that,the race car have to +100kg and 20% more reduction at the air intake

Despite the poor English, he is correct. They did not have enough of these cars in production. I'm a huge BMW fan, but if they don't want to sell these cars, then they can't bitch about the incrued penalties. Just another reason to start selling these cars to the public.

No, these are not for sale to people like you and me, unless you are the Prince of Siam or Brunei or something.

That's ok, all you ALMS fans can stay tuned to F1, with the battle between Scuderia and Williams. I personally doubt BMW will return to ALMS in '03, but that's just my opinion.

I would almost own that car over a Ferrari. It's magic! I think it's what a propper M3 should be like, more emphasis on the sports side of things.
