E46 M3 vs. NSX - Short but sweet.

Driving south on 101 headings towards Gilroy I decided to pull over for some gas. After waiting for about 15 minutes at the gas line I finally filled her up with 91 octane. With a full belly in my baby and the A/C kicked up I pulled out of the station and onto the main road. Out of no where this white NSX pulls up right in front of me. We both pulled up on the on ramp behind this truck going about 50mph. I left my car in 4th since I knew he was going to gun it as soon as it was clear. Next thing I see were two white puffs of smoke coming out of his tailpipes and what do you know he guns his car. I immediately gunned it myself, revving my baby to 6000rpm I was pulling up on him hard. I pulled next to him and smiled then floored my baby into 5th and flew right by him. I then slowed down for him but I guess he exited since he was no where in site.

I love my baby!

Hard to say...seems quite new, 1999 or 2000.

Nice one hotbimmer!

I've raced a 2000 NSX myself in my M3 and it was an all M power victory from 1st to 6th. Honda has nothing to compete with the new M3 despite the 90K attempt, ha ha.

Sweet Brian!

I was really quite suprised on how hard I was able to pull on him. I thought that they would put up more of a fight. My next goal is to run it with an S2000.

If it was indeed a newer NSX (3.2) then it should have given you a hard time on the freeway. The numbers show pretty close performance wise, while the NSX weighs less than the pig e46, and is areodynamically more efficient, then the racing at speed rather than stoplight, the NSX would have a slight edge. Now, you going out and racing a S2K, that is just plane rediculous. I dont know why you would go from the very highest honda which you can allready beat (NSX if you didn't know it was a honda) to a S2000 which is more of a match for the e36 m3 and that isnt on a mod for mod basis.

EAT M3,

So far, I have raced (Items worth listing) Corvettes, S4s, Camaro SS, and a NSX.

If you look at these cars, they are all very comparable to the M3. I myself would include the S2000 in this class as well. As long as they are close enough in my book, I don't have any problem racing them.

well believe it or not, i spanked a brand new nsx, i am driving my temporary car till new one comes in, its a 5 litre v8 camaro 83 z28, and we were sitting at a light, left turn i took the out side, i rev at him he revs back, and turns green and we ****in punch it, he had alittle ahead of me since he had less to turn, so we both punch it on the straight away after the turn, and i fly by him, and hes pulling hard and im pulling hard and i get 2 1/2 car lengs ahead of him and he stays there, for a while, and i pulled away slowly than we stopped i win.

Good kill porkyzilla,

I guess contrary to the nice look of the NSX. They are definitely not as fast I originally thought. I'm thinking the 2003s will definitely give us a run for our money.

U sure that NSX guy was really racing you?

M3's for the most part do 13.5 - 13.8's at the track depeding on driving skill while NSX's are about the same in that range so our cars should match up equally to the NSX. Don't see how we can pull on that car unless that guy just can't drive.

We were at Sacramento Raceway for the Sat. night Grudge racing and only me and a buddy with a Convt. M3 were there. We posted mainly 13.7's at the track while the faster S4's were running 13.4's up to 15.1's so I guess the driver has a big factor.

Forget about racing S2000's, those things are no match for our M3's unless they have some high power blower mods. But as for the NSX and S4's be careful since they are equal in performance on a straight line.

I thought the NSx would have put up more of a fight. If you beat the Nsx then the s2000 is not competition.

I would like to see you guys on a road course. Those Nsx's are nasty in turns.

M3's Rule

Rick, this is Tom with the Silver M3...how the heck are you buddy?

I heard that you got best show at bimmerfest, congrats!

Yes, I'm quite sure he was trying to out accelerate me since his car took off and I can see the smoke puffs coming out of his exhaust. Even my girlfriend, which is clueless when it comes to cars pointed out that he was trying to race me.
