| DA Race software review My car has been a work in progress ever since I bought it brand new in October of 2002. I have been through more parts and software combinations then a majority of the E46 community. Three sets of header, exhausts, and even three different software flashes are just the tip of the iceberg. So when I sent my ECU off to DA for their race software I was a little on the skeptical side on the gains they claim they can achieve. A minor note on DA is their turnaround time from when I sent them my ECU and till it was returned to me was exceptionally quick.Major Kudos on the turnaround time.
After getting the ECU reinstalled I had to go through the break in period.
As this is my weekend car I didn't get a chance to use the new power for over 2 weeks. Car shows and freeway driving are great to break the ECU in but not for testing. I can say though during the break in time the throttle response had improved and the fuel economy was similar to stock. Now I know you might be asking why I am bring up MPG for a performance car but I ran a software from "P Chip " and was lucky to get 230 miles on a tank. Now I am getting close to 300 on a tank which is about what stock is.
The performance increase when you push the car is very noticeable. The car in none sport mode feels like it is in sport and when you are in sport mode the car feels like it gained a extra 50 HP. Throttle response is clean and the power gain above 3000 rpm is very noticeable. Best way to explain it is throw you in the back of the seat noticeable. The only issue below 3000 rpm feels like the car is a little sluggish but that could just be my imagination. Overall the software was a great choice compared to the other ones on the market. The performance is definitely there and you can feel it.
If you have been debating on whether to pull the trigger on DA race software or any other version, stop waiting. The gains in performance are worth every penny to be able to take on Ferrari 355's. =) |
