| Headers for 2004 e46 M3 Headers- When I hear this word I think expensive and even more expensive to install. Does anyone have headers on thei m3? Is it a big install? Any problems after they were put in? Any sound/ performance increase? Thanks |

| Headers are a pain to install. However on US spec E46 M3's you will see significant gains in power by adding headers because our cats are located in our headers. As far as install price I couldn't really say. I do know that a lot of owners are buying the Ebay header for a couple hundred bucks and are very pleased with them. They are essentially a knock off of the supersprint headers.

| The ebay header would be just fine. As long as the collecter and welds are good, which they seem to be. Yes it install is a bitch, but is doable if you have the right tools. Figure 4-5 hours as mentioned above, at 55-75 an hour. Around 300-400 for install I would guess.

| Headers are a great upgrade, but have you considered "minor" things like changing all fluids for high quality race ones, or replacing all bushing with race spec ones?

| i'd say get some ebay ones with a good rating and have a shop do it. nothing worse the doing a job like that laying on your back for 5 hours on your drive way and loose bolts and/or not be able to get to bolts,.. better the less get done and have an exhaust leak at the head. but with the fluids. royal purple, who im not the biggest fan because of engine sludge, changed the motor, tranny, transfer case and diff oil on an STI and gained 14 all wheel. not bad sorry to get off topic. |

| I got CSL headers and cat I also install it with a friend which took 10 hours to install. The point is diy is fun with a friend. You don't need special tools to do this. It sure give a good gain. |
