What mods would you do with 1.3k?

this is my first post here

the topic is fairly simple: what mods would you do to your M if you had 1.3k? including all of the fees that comes with adding the part (shipping + installation + part etc..)

First and foremost, I would take care of any general maintenance issues that need to be addressed.

Next,

I think the first question that needs to be answered is:

What are you looking to use the car for?

If you are looking to get more performance out of the car, I would opt for suspension upgrades first.

If you are just looking to make some aesthetic changes, I would go for some CSL parts.

Seth is right. That first 1300 could easily be spent on maintenance. If you car is not running well, the modifications you make will not be as effective.

Agreed, if maintenance is not up to date than get that done. Otherwise I would save a little bit more and get some coilovers. E46 M3 suspension just plain sucks, at least it does for my tastes.

The maintenance is another issue. This 1300 is just going to be spent on upgrades to the car.

And to answer your question Seth, I'm looking more on the lines of cosmetic modifications, but.. i want more than just spending all my money on 2 or 3 CSL parts + installation.

My answer to this would depend on if you plan to have all parts installed, (A.) or if you plan to do any work yourself. (B.)

A. CSL trunk, black grills, depo smoked corners, black side gills, powerflex F + R urathane bushings,

I'd add a little more to the above list if you planed on installing the black out parts, and corners, but I'll leave the list as is in case you plan to have those parts installed at a shop also. I would imagine a CSL trunk could be had and painted for under 700.00. (the ebay ones that are true cabon fiber suprisingly have had good reviews from a few people I know) and are easy to install.

B. Ebay headers, drop in panel filter, power flex bushings, short shift lever (if you have a a manual), AR-25 resonators in mid pipes (unless you like rasp), SS brake lines, better pads, upgraded fluid, Euro rotors, synthetic rear diff fluid, solid rear strut mounts, and pulleys.

The "B" list could not be touched with installation charges, but all of the above listed items are things that I could install, and I consider myself average mechanically inclined, so I'll assume you could. Also the "B" list assumes you are able to price shop. For example I got my headers off ebay for 210.00 new and shipped. Mine didn't require the exhaust studs to be replaced because I got the thin flanges which most manufactures are now switching to. My point is all the things on that list can be had for 1300.00 by searching the classifieds, and buying through sales and being resourceful.

OR....... you could get a muffler. It depends on how much time you have to devote to getting the best deals.
I would pick a theme and concentrate on that though, brakes, suspenion, asthetics........ect.
