| I'm sorry to hear that your car was damaged by the dealer. I have grown accustomed to this process as nearly every car I've owned has received paint damage while at the dealer. Hindsight is 20/20, but I would strongly urge everyone to get a pre-service inspection of your vehicle that the service advisor signs off on. This happened recently with my wife's SUV and there was no argument when I pointed out the enormous scratch on the rear bumper as it was established before the service that the paint was clean. BTW - this is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read:

That was funny, but on a side note.... I am sorry to hear about the shitty service. Any time you spend that much cash on a car, the people working on it needs to put themselves into the car owner's shoes..... If that owner busted his/her ass working to get a car this nice, can I not go a step further in helping out with making them happy purchasing from our brand? Damn, I dont know what kind of techs Bimmer is hiring these days.

| Man, what is it with BMW dealers worldwide?! That sucks.... A friend of mine bought an '06 M3, car is all wobbly and bouncy after 7,000KM on the clock. It's SMG II, every shift wobbles the whole car in a weird way. It feels like it's falling apart with every gear shift. Took it to the dealer, they had their "M3 specialist" test the car, told me mate none is wrong with it. He insisted, ordered them to change all the bushings, check the diff, SMG, the works. They changed whatever they said they did. Nothing..... The GEM of the story: The "M3 specialist" takes the car for a last spin with my friend in the passenger seat, shifts, car still is wobbly, he feels it, and the solution is: "Well, all you need to do now is left your foot off the throttle when you shift and re apply it"...... The car is up for sale now... |

For the original poster, it's such a shame that dealers act that way. But I wholeheartedly agree with James. You should ALWAYS do a walk-around check of your vehicle with your advisor when you bring it in for service. That way both you and the dealer know the condition of the vehicle before it was taken in for service. Any discrepancy from that sheet will easily be taken care of without hassle or question by the dealer.

| I did a walk around on my '04 convertible when it came back from service and found a door ding. This car was absolutely virgin with no dings whatsoever so I was pissed when I saw it. They tried to say it was there before but I showed him how clean the car was. I had to bring it back and they fixed it free. Luckily, I couldn't see the repair after that so they did a good job. Our local dealer can be a bunch of schmucks |

| Man, that sux. Is there an independent BMW shop nearby? I would recommend finding one. Even here in Germany the dealers suck! I found the best indie shop in the world that I now even take the family cruiser to (Dodge Grand Caravan)!

| Yeah, dealerships treat your car like crap. I work on all my own stuff and only took it to the dealership in Minneapolis once (motorwerks BMW) when we went to europe and had them change a tire on it, and leave it in their lot for the 2 weeks we would be gone (free parking). We get back and there are scratches all over the trunk, lots of them. small scratches all over my damn car, it's not an M3, but just an E46 323ci, but I still love it like my child and spend hours on end waxing and detailing, so I know when there are new scratches on it! pissed me off royally. |
