First service @ 2000k - nightmare from dealer

had booked my brand new 06 m3 in service for the running in service. the day came, took it to them, advised the service receptionist to take good care of my m3 and i didnt want any scratches or anything to be made on it.. service guy was friendly enought to thought to be helpfull for me but i was wrong.

the end of the day came, the dealer rang me took me the service was finished, i thinking everything was beautifully done, then he said just give us 20 minutes because its currently been washed... im like WTF .. no no i dont want it to be washed.. his like oohh its already been wash now.... so im like omg... i was thinking they will be carefull right.. u know..

20 minutes later i drove there hoping to pick the my freshly service car with nice shine and washed...

car drove out, the dealer passed me the keys told me what has been done on the running in service.. im like umm ok..cool. walked out to the car with my gf... i walked around the car and saw THREE scratches around about 30cms long along the rear right hand wheel gard.. .. at the first glance i was like just a spiderweb then no .. it was fucking scratches.. i walked be in carmly and told the guy..image how you pissed off you would be if u were me.. but 1000000000000000X more pissed off..

he did a inspection and like every other car dealer trying to blame it was already like this when i bring the fucking car in ..
im like fuck you mate. this is my car, i treat it as if its my penis.... kinder... i know everything that happens to it..even when i scratched the rim i ended up buying a brand new fucking one..thats how protective i am towards me car.... then he walked back inside and told one of the guys to try to get rid of the scratches.. they drove it back in there and the guy started to polish it with this machine spinny thingy... 10 minutes later the manager came out and i told him that whoever was washing my car didnt do a very good job and this should be a warning for all of you. and also i told the service guy at the receptionist that i wanted you guys to becarefull with it.

the manager was abit of a dick still trying to blame on the original dealer that sold me the car and said it might of been already scratched when i bought the car..... i couldnt belive it...

20 minutes later the detailer guy managed to remove most of the scratches from it but its still visible from the light..

pissed off and no a very happy customer from this dealer..

i am going to make a formal complaint to bmw australia as i would like to take this further.
Main reason is not about the scratch but there just werent too conserned about the car as i am. this is the last e46 in australia.
also even the manager was blaming on the original dealer that sold me the vechle at the start.. now thats just beyond the joke.
now im left with 3 scratches on the rear right flare wheel guard which is real obvious from the light, specialy on a black car..

the dealer was Sylvania BMW Sydney.
anyone recommend any further action i should take to a higher department ??
any advise would be good.

also the drive home felt abit diferent in performance and gear feels wierd...

i seriously dont know what they did to my car..

anyways. i would not ever go back to that place again for anything.

I'm sorry to hear that your car was damaged by the dealer. I have grown accustomed to this process as nearly every car I've owned has received paint damage while at the dealer. Hindsight is 20/20, but I would strongly urge everyone to get a pre-service inspection of your vehicle that the service advisor signs off on. This happened recently with my wife's SUV and there was no argument when I pointed out the enormous scratch on the rear bumper as it was established before the service that the paint was clean.

BTW - this is quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever read:

That was funny, but on a side note.... I am sorry to hear about the shitty service. Any time you spend that much cash on a car, the people working on it needs to put themselves into the car owner's shoes..... If that owner busted his/her ass working to get a car this nice, can I not go a step further in helping out with making them happy purchasing from our brand? Damn, I dont know what kind of techs Bimmer is hiring these days.

Man, what is it with BMW dealers worldwide?! That sucks....

A friend of mine bought an '06 M3, car is all wobbly and bouncy after 7,000KM on the clock. It's SMG II, every shift wobbles the whole car in a weird way. It feels like it's falling apart with every gear shift.

Took it to the dealer, they had their "M3 specialist" test the car, told me mate none is wrong with it. He insisted, ordered them to change all the bushings, check the diff, SMG, the works. They changed whatever they said they did. Nothing.....

The GEM of the story: The "M3 specialist" takes the car for a last spin with my friend in the passenger seat, shifts, car still is wobbly, he feels it, and the solution is: "Well, all you need to do now is left your foot off the throttle when you shift and re apply it"......

The car is up for sale now...

That's actually the best way to drive an M3 SMOOTHLY with SMG II.

For the original poster, it's such a shame that dealers act that way. But I wholeheartedly agree with James. You should ALWAYS do a walk-around check of your vehicle with your advisor when you bring it in for service. That way both you and the dealer know the condition of the vehicle before it was taken in for service. Any discrepancy from that sheet will easily be taken care of without hassle or question by the dealer.

I think I'm better off with a manual if that's the case...I've never seen any M3 driver do that, and I've seen a lot on the track.

I did a walk around on my '04 convertible when it came back from service and found a door ding. This car was absolutely virgin with no dings whatsoever so I was pissed when I saw it. They tried to say it was there before but I showed him how clean the car was. I had to bring it back and they fixed it free. Luckily, I couldn't see the repair after that so they did a good job.

Our local dealer can be a bunch of schmucks

Man, that sux. Is there an independent BMW shop nearby? I would recommend finding one. Even here in Germany the dealers suck! I found the best indie shop in the world that I now even take the family cruiser to (Dodge Grand Caravan)!

Yeah, dealerships treat your car like crap. I work on all my own stuff and only took it to the dealership in Minneapolis once (motorwerks BMW) when we went to europe and had them change a tire on it, and leave it in their lot for the 2 weeks we would be gone (free parking). We get back and there are scratches all over the trunk, lots of them. small scratches all over my damn car, it's not an M3, but just an E46 323ci, but I still love it like my child and spend hours on end waxing and detailing, so I know when there are new scratches on it! pissed me off royally.
