That's not particularly "rare" - rare is an M-Coupe (about 6,000 of them in the US from 1998-2002).. They are still holding their value quite nicely.

thanks mister obvious. There's a reason the m coupe was rare though, and the resale on them isn't that good.

True, the M-coupe was ahead of its time in terms of style. When it was first released most people disliked it, to say the least.

However, you will find that now the public opinion on them has done a complete 180 and tons of people covet them a great deal (myself included - I'd trade my M3 for a pristine 01-02).

As for the resale on them, you are sorely mistaken. They still command high 20's to mid 30's. That's pretty damn good resale if you ask me!

Can't remember where I read it, but someone referred to the M Coupe as the "unholy union between an hot dog and a roller-skate". I'm afraid imo, that it's a car for the strict purists.

I absolutely LOVE the E36/7 M-Coupes. I lovingly refer to it as the clown shoe.

Personally I love M Coupes, but they do remind me of a Civic hatchback.

We are lucky to be experiencing M3 ownership, but it's not because it's rare. 40K+ cars is just a production car. I owned one of 1300 or so F40s and that is thought to be high production.
