xenon light on E46 M3

I'm looking at a few 2001 E46 M3 for sale and noticed one with slightly lower price. The problem is it mentioned that the xenon light is low beam only. I thought E46 M3 should have xenon both hi and low beams.

So you think this a genuine M3 or something of a lower spec (e.g. a 330ci) that has been hotted up, or the headlight has been replaced with something from lower spec cars due to previous frontal accident?

They are probably confused. The high and low xenons lights both operate through the same ellipsoid. The inner light is NOT your high beam it is I guess what you could call your "autobahn passing lights". They only illuminate when you pull back on the high beam lever and you can use them to flash other motorists to let them know you are coming up fast, at least thats what they do in Germany. Sorry if that is confusing I typed it in a hurry. However the short answer is if the car has xenons it is both high and low beam. Unless Australia has some special light assembly that we didn't get her in the states.

No that's fine, not too confusing, but another guy with a convertible one has xenon on low beams only, so I was wondering why the dealer car I looked at only had low beams and the dealer not responding to my question about the headlight.

Bi-Xenon headlights did not start until 2002 model year. All 2001 M3's only had low-beam Xenons that were optioned with them.

i have an o1 with low beam xenons. Nothing different really. When are you really gonna use your highbeams?
