| E46 M3 vs Saleen Mustang In case you don't remember my story about the other Saleen that I went up against I had 3 people in the car and he was alone or had two (I can't remember). We did a roll on from around 60mph and by the time we were @ 140 he had me by about 3-4 car lengths. That was a Saleen S281 w/ an aftermkt supercharger running @ 10psi. Guy told me I would probably pull away from a stock Saleen So anyway, a few guys in a gas station parking lot start asking me about the car.. yada yada yada and we end up together on the interstate. I have no idea what he has.. I was told "it's going to take more than a M3 to beat me." I asked if he had a supercharger and never really got a straight answer. Aren't all Saleen's supercharged? I have no idea. Then he said I've got a 250 tank of N02. Okay, I've never run NO2, but a 250 tank.. Didn't he mean a 250 shot? Okay, this guy's on something. That seemed a little bit high. So we proceeded out to the interstate line up and go on the 3rd honk @ 55mph. I got a better start than he did and then started pulling on him. Very slowly, but surely. All the way up towards the top of 4th gear. I'm guessing I had around 3 car lengths when I shut things down, but I also think he was beginning to slowly close in on me towards the end. I really don't know. I do have the race on video. Anyone know how I can post it? It kind of sucks, b/c it was at night, but you can see me clearly pull away. Is it possible this guy was in a Mustang Cobra? I did notice the SVT badge on the back, but he had a Saleen body kit and that car was LOUD. Didn't notice any supercharged whistle or my radio, b/c the thing was so loud. |

| Not all Saleens are supercharged, it's an option. Some Saleens even have basically stock engines as well, they just have the upgraded suspension, wheels, body kits, etc. But Cobra's can be Saleens as well, my sister has a 1998 Saleen Cobra convertible, 1 of 7 built that year. It is supercharged but it was an option, not standard. It does sound like the guy didn't really know for sure what he was talking about.... |

| there are a few models from saleen 1. s281. basically a gt with exhaust and body kit with big wheels 2. s281 sc. This is an eaton blown gt, 360hp, high 12s 1/4 3. s351, no longer made. this was the big dawg. big cubes and a big blower mid 11s with slicks 4. s281 e, this is the 351 replacement. These have about 425hp. relatively new and really expensive. 5. saleen cobra. very rare but also not much faster than a stock cobra if not blown. and that guy definitely was and was ![]()

| Good kill. Yeah not all Saleens are S/C. In fact the blown ones are the rarity by far. Is your M an E36 or E46? If its an E46 then you should walk him hard core if its a naturally aspirated one. Peace.
