E46 M3 displacement...

How many liters displacement is a standard E46 M3? I have heard 3.2L (3.246cc), like it says on the BMW website, but I've read previously and heard people say (including BBC Top Gear) that it was 3.4L.

I think trusting BMW's statements on their engine in their car would probably be best.

3.4L? hmm... never heard of that one. part of the huge hype of the new M3 engine being shipped over to the U.S. was that on paper it looked like there was no change in displacement but 100+ more hp.

i heard that the engine went from a 3.2 to a 3.24?? a very SLIGHT increase, not noticeable, but there? i'm not sure though...

I have seen the engine refered to as a 3.3 liter but not a 3.4.
