DINAN HAS ITS E46 M3 CHIP OUT! Anyone try it?

Alright, well first I have to convince my dad to buy the $400 chip. Next the exhuast from AA, and the front strut brace from Dinan as well. But has anyone else got the chip or exhuasts from anyone? AA says the exhuast gives a couple HP, and the chip probably gives a couple. Has anyone thought about freeing up the intake a little? I have look at it and you can make a much free flowing, louder (could sound better then the whiny exhuast at times) and since its already a cold air intake from bmw, its easy to make one. Well let me know. thanx

OMG Dinan has a chip for the M3. Hell yea just what I was lookin for. Do you got info on this?

Performance Engine Software-E46 M3

The software provides improved performance and driveability, as well as removing the top speed governor. Dinan's Software Engineers have re-programmed the "EML" or drive-by-wire system in order to provide the driving enthusiast with moderately quicker throttle response in the "Normal" mode, as well as more linear throttle response in the "Sport" mode for improved driveability at the car's handling limit. With the top speed governor removed, the car is now capable of achieving 167 mph in fifth gear; the tall sixth gear ratio provides a "theoretical top speed" of 201 mph.

The software also raises the factory rev-limit by 150 rpm (8150 rpm) in order to provide additional road speed in each gear, as well as improved performance driveability.

Price: $399.00

I'll let others do it before I decide whether to get it. I just don't see spending 400 bucks on something you most likely will get nil gain out of.

if you can afford 50k for a beautiful car, this is he ultimate accessory, and it is relatively inexpensive compared to the car itself. Higher redline, improved throtle response, and no top speed governer (as if i would ever go over 130). I'd like to see some dyno charts though.

None Kev... just like the software for the other E46's. Honestly we have run our project cars a few times, the XI has the Dinan Stage II and the CI has no software, I am not sure how much difference it makes.

The hopping you get if you don't throttle just right is still there and makes launching more difficult. I don't know if that will be a problem with M3 software but it was with/is with the rest of the E46's.

I would wait to see if anyone has good things to say about it before spending $400.00 on it. Also IMHO just becaus eyou can afford a 50K car doesn't mean that $400 couldn't be better spent on a different MOD

To be honest, it really sounds almost pointless unless you can drive at that high a speed. throttle response? I cant really imagine Dinan coming out with something better than BMW OE, their program for the throttle is made to suit a wide variety of people in a wide variety of circumstances, I doubt dinan could really improve upon it.

Then again...you could then go *201mph*

Not true, just because you can afford the car doesn't mean you can afford to waste 400 dollars on useless garbage. Stock throttle response with sport mode on is insane to say the least, BMW has everything pretty much perfected on this car, I doubt they're going to leave the tronics unexploited. What else can you spend 400 dollars on better you ask? Well, since the chip gives basically no gain, go to poor neighborhood and give a 20 dollar bill to every poor kid you see, I guarantee you it makes their year. But really, save the money for when you need it, this chip is overpriced and does nothing to top it off.
