| i think that launch program is only on the euro m3, but i think u can have ur car reprogramed to do it and i imagine it would affect the warranty somehow, as for the 4.1 seconds 0-60 i think thats hard to believe

| us spec smgII's can launch at 1800 rpms while euro specs can launch at 3800. You can get a chip that will allow a us spec to launch at 3800

| I have just purchased a 03 M3 and haven't tried it yet. I don't know how many times the previous owner used it. Is there any way of finding out short of hooking it up to the service diag's? |

| I've worked out the Launch Control. It's pretty sweet. 1st time it drops the clutch at 38oorpm then if you try to do it again immediatly after, it only allows a 1800rpm launch. It is seriously fast if you use the launch control! |

| Best thing to do is to stall it up like an auto (beats neutral banging it lol)... Put it in first gear, left foot on the brake (firmly) and right foot on the accelerator and bring the revs up until u reach the 'converters' limit. When the lights go 'green', let go of the brake, right foot to the floor and away u go!! PS. just make sure u got traction control off and u gotta love the sport mode for those shifts!

| I found some info on the web on this and decided to try it on my 06' M3 convertible. There are actually two modes; one mode pulses the clutch for less tire spin and the other mode dumps the clutch for a smoky burnout. I think that if you floor it to the kickdown switch, you get the burnout mode although it does start the revs at somewhere around 1800 rpm. I don't think that it's going to be as fast off the line as a 6 speed but the SMG mode 6 shift speed is really, really fast so the 2-3 shifts are actually faster than you can do with a stick. Follow this link to a manual on the SMG http://www.m3smg.com/files/smgmanual.pdf also good information here: E46 M3 SMGII Special Functions This is very hard on the clutch so I wouldn't make a habit of it... |

| I don't do it... lol too many problems come aftewards. My friend at the dealership told me one of his customer voided the warranty. LOL! Btw, I am new here, hi! I am popping my first "post" here. ![]() |

| No doubt that there are some registers in the on-board computer somewhere that show exactly the number of times you've used it...I'd be judicious with it.
