| I have info from a mate who is a BMW Dealer Principal and there is no way the dealer can read off your cars computer or key how many times you have used launch control.      |

| why would they void your warranty just because you've used it a bunch of times? isnt it just like reving the engine in neutral with a stick and then poping it in first? i dont see how they could void your warranty over that |

| It's gotta be BS, that would be so lame for BMW to install a feature on a car and then punish you for using it! |

| When I purchased my 04 m3 last week they checked how many launches have been performed. zero - not for long! They also confirmed the warranty would not be void for using launch control. I would reccomend anyone buying a used M3 check how many launches have been performed that'll give you an idea how thrashed it is. |

| how would you check how many launches have been done? i just bought an 03 (36k miles) from a dealer and they didn't know what i was talking about when i asked about checking # of times burnout (to the floor) and launch (to the resistance switch) modes have been used.... r u sure they aren't just pulling your leg to scare you out of using it? (ie - if you use launch mode we will void your warranty! we can tell how many times you have used it! ... lol) ... 1st post! |

| smg II shift in 80 milisec. and the launch is awesome. if the tires are hot, you launch like a 4x4 :P

| yeah the dealer will know exactly how many times you have done it! they dont need to tell you it will void the warranty because they dont actually advertise the fact that you can do these launches! its a bit like going out and shooting someone then trying to blame the bloke in the gun shop! if you take your car in with a blown diff and they see you have been lovin the launch control then they are gonna reject your claim! it is fun but there is a risk involved!

| The warranty thing you are all talking about is an issue on the Nissan GT-R guys, not the E46 M3. It's not the same thing and BMW dos not have the capability to read data off the cars computer to tell them what you have or have not been doing. That is a Nissan GT-R thing, not a BMW thing. Although, this is a feature that might be seen standard in cars in the future although I have a sneaky feeling consumers will get a tad bit pissed about it.
