what is the most power u can get out of an e46 m3 and still have it n/a

Nowack has said that they can get 450HP out of the motor but has a 5hour race lifespan before being rebuildt.

Not much more... the compression is so high and the engine is so unstable that it would probably just blow up if too much was done to it . Like a turbo or s/c would just make the engine explode... you'd pop a head gasket or crack something.

Racing Dynamics has a 396hp kit. This is a complete rebuild and is SUPER expensive. Has a warranty on it though, but maintenance woudl still be a bitch. Just N/A regular mods that everyone gets on most cars would include CAI (not out yet, dont know if it will come out, but probably), Exhaust (adds maybe 5hp on the ///M), and ECU reprogramming (if they got nearly no Hp outta the 330 engine, how they gonna do it on the ///M????) Please keep in mind that this is a nearly racing class engine in and of itself.. over 100 hp per liter N/A is a nearly racing figure... so, the easy route to getting NA hp, you will not see any noticeable gains at all. If you want to remap the engine, port, polish, etc... then you might have something, but you won't run long because the engine is so highly tuned as is. This is why the engine is SO amazing, they have made a (what seems to be so far) VERY reliable engine w/ near race car statistics. You wanna go faster in the ///M? Get some weight reduction and if you are tracking, put the coils on it (wait for Ohlins!!!). Weight reduction and suspension is the biggest difference between the previous 6 cyl. GT Class racing ///M like PTGs (now they have the V-8 monster obviously), was the fact that it weighed nothing and it handled better than any go-kart you could ever imagine.

No... the engine is capible of putting much more power down. Hell, my 89 Honda engine puts out 86HP if that an I am sure I could almost double that if I was dumb and rich. You can get loads of power out the the S54, just a matter or how deep your pocket runs. For a racing set up the engine is good for 440+ HP, street wise, I couldnt tell you.

Yea... but who wants to blow a gazillion dollars? You have to agree though, anything done to the S54 engine will run very deep into the pockets. You are right, depends on how far you want to go though... I just feel it is unpractical (for street apps, that is).
