BMW M3 manual or SMG???

I went with SMG, and I am very happy with it. I love manual cars, but the quickness and precision of the SMG shifts are just awesome. Plus there is a way to launch the car at 3000 RPMs (no not launch control) so you can out drag a manual. yes you can use the shifter to sift. I find myself using the paddles less than half the time (call me old fashioned). But in all fairness, it is the same tranny, you are just letting a computer do your shifting for you, and much better than you ever could. I think my favorite part is when you downshift and it matches revs perfectly It sounds so cool.
Anyway, good luck on your decision, and congrats on being able to get such a great car.

as for drag racing, the 6sp is faster, simply due to the fact that you can launch faster... that said, SMG shifts are still faster; there is no way even the best shifter in the world can beat 0.08 seconds in S6... hell, even Ferrari can't beat 0.15 seconds!!!!

exactly, the smg is almost impossible to launch as well as a manual.
