Will E-46 M3 19" wheels fit?

Will E-46 M3 19 inch wheels fit on a 2000 540i. I have my old M3 rims and would like to put them on the 540 to update the look. I have tried to put them on but it seems that i hit the shock. I know i have seen a few pic's of someone who has gotten this to work. I was just wondering if i need a spacer, if i do where do i order such a thing? Thanks for the help.
