E46 DVD Navigation Question

Im sure this question has been answered liek 50 times, but i am new here......can i play normal DVDs on the factory DVD Navigation system? and watch them where i would normally watch the map? Thanks guys! Sorry if it's been asked before!

if it says dvd anywhere on it, then thats probably a yes. but other than that i dont know. just try it, if it doesnt work itll spit out the cd, it wont kill it

I am buying an E46, i do not have the car yet...i am seeing if i should go for this option and get the navigation or not.
