| according to my information, the 6-speed Z4 normally comes with a 228mm disc (vs. the 240mm of the E36 M3). however, the SSG version spec's a 240mm (indicating that the E36 M3 clutch parts would fit). the driveshaft is noticably shorter than the E36 M3 Euro 6-speed version. i'm thinking a driveshaft will have to be made (shortened, balanced). shifter linkage parts isn't a problem...at least for us! ![]() |

| Hmmm, do I smell a 6 speed upgrade kit? ![]() Ben, on the header front, Brad at Evosport, working with Jose at JP Performance built a set of headers that are similar to the HIOP units. But, they are closer to a true equal length header, and the no. 5 pipe is not pinched as in the HIOP setup. I remain optimistic that the Evo pipes make good power, but haven't seen dynos yet. It would be great for us consumers to see a cost effective alternative but functional equivalent to such pipes (if indeed they make the power that I've been told), as those are 1.2k. Ouch.

| Ben, do you know what the new 6spd weighs? if it isn't much more, I've already got my goods at Ray's place....it would take another day to get the extra parts to skip the 5 spd and straight for 6. then again I'm already at 10k for this project (not including the car) so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut. ![]()

a stock E36 M3 5-speed weighs just over 78 lbs. (dry, no fluid). a stock E36 M3 6-speed weighs 100 lbs. (dry, no fluid) for you weight saving fans, if you use the tranny from a 318ti, that only weighs 65.5 lbs. |
