will US 330ci have SMG later?

I have seen SMG on 330ci now for sale in asia or maybe europe
too...it has good comment about this...

will this happen to US E46? anyone knows?

Most likely, if not in the E46 body style, then the next one. The SMG will be an option in 2 years on the Z4 2.5 and 3.0 motors..

I'd imagine the SMG will be available in almost all models in a few years..

it's not exactly smg, it's almost the same thing (Sequential gear box) but it's not a seqential M gearbox... i forgot what exactly it's called, read it somewhere online, or a magazine, but i think the next model 3 series will have it, or maybe in a couple years the e46 will have it

when i went back to taiwan this summer, all new E46 were equipped with SSG(sports sequential Gearbox) which is a detuned SMG2..which no launch control and the most agressive gearing(S6??)
however, I'd like one..it looks sooo nice..........

And it's only got two modes. Comfort and Sport. I think sport is equal to S4 mode in the M3.

SSG looks a lot more user friendly than SMG- it was road tested in a 330CI in BMW Car magazine this month...its slower to change than SMG and more relaxed, but sproty when you need it. More suited to a non M really

why U.S always be later than any other countries? I thought U.S supposed to be the most advanced country? how advance it's when it comes to car?

I think things like this come to the us later b/c they want to test it out on a smaller market. The us is a gold mine for car companies and all kinds of companies for that matter so they want to present us with a good product that won't have any flaws. my .02
