ESS e46 330ci in rHD

Hi all!

I am in Australia/Sydney and was wondering if anyone has had an ESS S/C on for a while now on their 3.0 litre and would like to comment on driveability/reliability as a daily commuter.

I was hoping to see if anyone has done this conversion in a right hand drive car as the software may actually be different.

Sorry...but I can only comment on driveability. I've had the ESS kit for about 1200 miles, and cruising around normally is not a problem. It's well-behaved. No one will know you have a blower, unless you want them to know.
ESS uses a Vortech supercharger, and Vortech is well-known for the durability and reliability of their products.
vortechsuperchargers.com has a large FAQ section...check it out.

Well, i got an email from ESS saying that they have the software for RHD which is good.

However i was thinking to check out vortech prices individually as it may be cheaper and just buy the extra stuff from ESS... they may not allow that though...

before my dad sold his e46 325ci i had lots of correspondance with ESS regarding their kits. im sure i still have all of the information, including who in australia can supply the kit (i had to wait for a RHD varient of the kit to be developed.)

if you would like copies let me know.

Are you still interested in doing it Ollie?

If its just a matter of getting the software from them but getting the rest fabricated here, I'm sure you should be able to get the software. If not from ESS, have you talked to AA yet? At the end of the day, all you are doing is retuning the engine to accomodate for the boost, no extra controls needed.

it's an expensive conversion, so lots of consideration will have to be given - esp. reliability as we will have 1 more year on warranty - thus also waiting another yr may be an option.

HEy Ollie,

My understandind was that CAPA were distributing the ESS kit in Australia? Have you talked to these guys at all?
