White E46M3 Conv. spanked me (E36M3)

Just raced a BRAND New E46 M3 Convertible by El Camino and Lawrence. I saw the car coming up from behind me and as it passed me I decided to follow it just to see if he would spank me. I've never raced one so I wanted to see what 93 horses and a 6spd tranny does to kill the previous competition. I tease the guy in 2nd cause I'm rolling but he doesn't go. UNLUCKILY for me, the light in front of us turns yellow and he looks over and gives me a huge smile, points to the light and I say "I know I'll get spanked but what the F*&@..." Light turns green before I get a chance to bring my RPM's for a launch and the mofo is GONE...I get into 3rd and he doesn't pull as hard as I thought it would, but then again he's already 3 cars up there. Wish I could've launched...The guy had BRAND new plates and had the top down, anyone on the forum? For the record I just have a UUC Short shifter, Jim C Chip on crappy 91 octane, and a lot of hope...

Sounds like fun man. That's surprising that he is running you when it is brand new. I am willing to bet he wasn't running it full throttle either.
I guess that's what you have to expect when you run old techonology against new technology. Have fun with your car and becareful.

The funny thing is, on my way to the bank today, I raced another E46 M3 convertible!!! About 20 minutes ago...So if you read this, it was on Wednesday at about 9:45pm...The guy had a chick in the back seat that I was checking out and I sorta got caught up staring then realized the guy was driving an E46 M3 convertible. He had the top off and the passenger was a guy too. He took off but due to the traffic we had to get out of the way. Once it was clear, and to this point he was still in front of me, I smelled something horrible. Smelled like a burned up clutch, I guess he missed a gear cause he didn't pull at this point. We got up to about 80-90 mph. He made left at the next stoplight (Quimby Rd.) and I gave him a phat peace sign with a smile. He gave me a wave back. If you read this, we have to go at it again in a few months...=) Remember all I'm racing on is hope!

i'm surprised the guy in the new cab raced you too. i've already gone over the break-in limit for my car a couple times but i wouldn't want to make a habit of it. i've never ridden in your car, but i can tell you that the m3 cab is much faster than i thought it would be. it really pulls on the highway too. couple times when i was driving back to san fran i double shifted down (i have smgII) and nailed it and the f'in thing just flew up to around 100 immediately!

Andy why didn't you opt for an E36M3 instead of the e46 325? Just curious.
