E46 Interior Noise

Dear All,

My name is Yuen from Malaysia. I have just bought a BMW E46 318 2.0. Currently I am facing some problems regarding interior cabin noise and is wondering whether anyone can help by sharing some views. No.1, There is a high pitch squeaking noise, sound like 'Chi chi chi' from front passenger to the center console which appears on very slight uneven road. Sometimes the noise duration and the pitch lengthen while turning. It is confirmed an interior noise and not external, like suspension. Cannot exactly pinpoint the location cause the noise seems to run about. It is not the a/c blower noise cause when I turned off the fan speed, the sound is still there. I tried to lower the door window a bit, but it is still there. Therefore, this has drives me up the wall everytime I drive this car. Could it be the seat rail or what? No.2, There is a cracking noise at the rear speaker board because of the board plastic louver. This is not critical at this moment and an accessories shop will be able to buffer it by inserting some forms, but seriously need help on the first one. Really hope someone with the same experience and manage to solve it, to share their experiences.

Does it happen on cold or hot days? Does it sound like metal or plastic sqeaking? Have you tryed to pull or push on the dash to reproduce the noise?

Hi! It sounds like some rotating or spring thing which is loose. Exactly like blower noise, sound like mice 'chi chi'. The noise will come out once you go thru some bumpy or uneven road, disregard of hot or cold.

probably this is your problem
check tha computer fan. it located in the ledt corner near the break pedal. you need to open the cover remove the fan then remove the fan cover. you can spray some lubricat to fix the noice
