Evo all the way. They are really more of a e46 m3 competitor

^^ agreed..and that's only from a roll or freeway..off the line the m3 will struggle to match the awd of the evo

Yea, I'd say learn how to pick your battles there. Boosted you may have more options depending on how your setup is but matching AWD feature is difficult, Well.... Unless you get him at or near there 20k mile interval for a clutch replacement.

In honesty even still, IMO, drag racing an EVO or an STI just seems unethical considering the nature of where that cars abilities were conceived from. Theres a reason why BMW excelled in the BTTC and the EVO/STI in WRC racing.

My best friend has an 04 sti and he raced an e46 m3 and he beat it pretty bad. the forced induction and one more gear got the win in the end.

I hate to state the obvious but even though both sides have there pros and cons to the racing scene. But the issue i see is even though the M3 is formidable opponent. Its hard to beat the traction of AWD off the line. Even IF you had enough power/torque to reel in the EVO in the top of first/2nd gear. Boost is inevitable failure point of the M3 for the mid/high power band.

To me its as simple as knowing what my car can and can't do. But i know when it comes to my day to day. My back doesnt hurt from the EVO's incredibly uncomfy seats, (for those arguing the point, you prolly arent old enough to have back problems or dont enjoy long rides to new and interesting vacation spots or resorts). And although fun back in my younger days even.. I cant stand the angry bees in a coffe can exhaust notes. It not only just even visially lumps you in that pool of degenerates who we all find interesting to look fast or want the race feeling. The sound generally attract all the wrong attention. So the buzz pipe for $119 says im a racer look at me. Sorry for the slight rant

Hi...
Ok...... I haven't driven either of these cars, but I'm in a position to choose one or the other. As alot of you know I've been through most of the performance cars from "Extreme to Exotic" (430bhp Cosworth, E39 M5, TVR Tuscan). Cosworth was a great car that I had for 15 years and was great fun to drive and a genuine enthusiasts car which I loved and still miss, but was a total Money Pit. M5 was the nicest and most reliable car I've ever driven, which I had total confidence in and just couldn't fault.... Thanks for sharing the post...
