M3 Mirrors... can u make your own?!

Hi,

Just had a thought....maybe stupid like!!

is it possible to buy a pair of m3 mirror housings only, then buy some m3 style glass (with tint and heat functions) but then use your own motor from your standard mirrors...mine being from a 320d and hey presto u got m3 mirrors??!!!

Any advice appreciated...

it's a possibility the motors could be the same. I couldn't see a reason why they'd produce 2 different mirrors for 2 very similar cars. but then again, it might just be easier and cheaper to buy real m3 mirrors.

mine is sedan so theres always a fitment problem with geuine M3 mirrors.

But the main reason for doin it this way was to save money as getting m3 style replica electric mirrors with heat function specifically for saloons will set u back about $250 and genuines about $350...whereas u could pick up m3 housings fairly cheap and decent glass and it could end up costing u less then half the price!!

i think a bit more research is required first!!
