| I personally don't have experience of swapping in an LSD, but a good friend of mine swapped a Quaife LSD into his E36 when he turboed the car. With the E36, the swap was fairly easy and I see on Quaife's website that there is a Helical LSD for a 320i. I posted a link below Click Here The swap should fit in the standard differential housing. I personally have not had experience with E46 models, but I'm sure Quaife would be able to give you more detailed info on this matter. ASC should not be affected any differently, but ASC might not be needed all the timem with a LSD which will give you more traction out of the hole and better traction through the corners. Open diffs suck, BMW should have never changed over in '95. Worst decision ever. |

| I have a Turner Motor Sports diff - I believe its a friction plate design, so different to a Quaife diff. It was installed in my E46 323i 3.4:1 housing, there was no need to change over everything to an M3 subframe. At the same time I installed a finned diff cover. It has been a great mod - really noticeable better traction out of corners in the wet - it just hooks up and goes. Did a defensive driving course last Thursday, and the thing hangs it tail out very happily on the skid pan (never on the street of course...). With ASC, it seems to trigger the ASC earlier for some reason, and in my car at least the ASC seems agressive (maybe there's more going on at 230RWKW). So I turn ASC off as soon as I start the car. I figure that with the power I've got, I better have a fair old clue of what to recover if the tail steps out.... |

| won't affect ASC and it will improve cornering especially when exiting the corners at full throttle.
