| cant get me car to start Okay so I had a little incedent this weekend with my bimmer, we had a big snow storm here and I had a little accident, I lost control of my car and slid into a mailbox post, the side impact airbag deployed from the door panel and the curtain, but the car was still running. (found out that it just smashed up the driverside fender). After I got it home, the next day I went to start it and all the lights lit up but it would not turn over, So my question is, is there any immobilizer system on bmws that keep them from running after airbags are deployed? or what might be the problem?

| I think you may be on the right track. A couple of things happen when the airbags deploy (for instance, the doors unlock) so it is plausible that the immobiliizer mode could be triggered. I just scanned the list of possible computer codes, and none of them look like they would be triggered by a collision, but some of them are pretty cryptic. I wish I could help with specifics. |

| On further research, the immobilizer appears to be part of the central locking system and independent of the engine computer. I found nothing on how to reset the immobilizer after it is triggered (closely-held secret?). Did you ever find/resolve the problem? |

| Not saying this is problem but nearly all cars are fitted with cut of switch when in an accident the cut of switch will kill fuel supply maybe it had not properly engaged or activated next morning |

| well it would be a pretty pointless fuel cut off switch if it didnt cut off till the next day!!! if it was any sort of cut off it would have cut off upon impact...and it would still turn over but not start, yours isnt turning over at all right???

| The MRS III includes a fuel pump cut off feature in the event of an airbag deployment.
