The (PS) rating is probably completely confusing to lots of folks. PS is a German horsepower rating that is not SAE but close. PS is an abreviation for pfaderstarke. To any more knowledgeable folks who may know the precise spelling, thanks in advance for any correction or insight you might offer. Neel, I enjoyed your post. The M54B30 is new for me in that I just bought a 2001 330CI. With a 231 PS rating ( 225 SAE), she pulls to 100 MPH nicely.

i have a quick question for you, hopefully you know the answer. i own a 2000 328i (as you can assume) and my 328 has the full M package, the seller told me that instead of the 193hp it actually has 225 because of the M on the engine. i didnt believe him at the time but i was just wondering is this true?

help! I just bought a 2002 330i. I am tring to find out if it is the zhp package. It still has the window sticker in the glove box from when it was new, on the sticker it says it has the performance package, the car has the M d-spoke wheels, body kit and so on. Is there a code somewhere that will tell me what motor I have?
