Does I6 engine in the E46 use timing chain?

Does the I6 engine in the E46 use timing chain? Do both 325 and 330 use timing chaing?

I'm looking at the used 2002+ 3 series now, is there anything that I need to pay attention to?

hi,

i believe they do use a timing chain yes, i own the pre-facelift model 2001 320d & at it's last sevice the local dealer confirmed this for me,but if u have any doubts the best option i'd say is to pm a member of staff for piece of mind
