it was my first time with my e46 m3 smg with just exaust on and dinan stg 1 software...
i did 14.1 that was my best shot... ppl telling me thats embrassing run with m3... i dont know what was the problem is but i suppose to do 13.6 thats what they said.. whats the best way to use smg?

From memory:

Turn DSC off
Set the smg to S6
Don't use acceleration assist
Punch it.

i though smg is gonna be much easier cuz i had stick for 5yrs...
and till now i really enjoying the smg thingy but freaking can't do anything stupid!!!

anyways.. at that time dsc was off S6 mode and sports mode was on..and did LC.. i dont know whats wrong with it..

Acceleration Assist is otherwise known as Launch control.

You hold the lever forwards and put your foot to the floor. The engine holds the revs at somewhere between 3000 and 4000 (from memory.) As soon as you release the SMG stick, keep your foot to the floor.

The car basically launches with minimal wheelspin - usually nil. It stops you losing milliseconds by wheelspinning for a bit, before you actually gain traction.

It's useful, but for your application you wont need it.

As i said above, DSC off, SMG setting 'S6' then just punch it.

But after reading what you typed again, if you did everything i said and you're getting 14's, there's problems... but get back to me on here, did you do what i said?

I don't know what the hype is about.. if some professional driver ran a 13.6, 14.1 for an amutuer is pretty good, especially for your first try at drag racing. 1/4 mile times vary alot based on air quiality, temperature, evlevation etc.. Of course there is also no de-facto standard for an particular car, maybe you just got a slow one too. Look through some book and magazines one will have it at 13.6, another will say 13.9, one 14.0 etc..
