Poor gas mileage

I drive a 2005 325i (e 46 chasis)
Recently ihave noticed that i get around 70 miles at about half a tank of gas when driving in city traffic.
Is there a way to improve that mpg.
Would a new oil filter, and oil change help out?

yea man i've been averaging 15-16 mpg...weak shit
I'm going this monday to the BMW dealership to see the service dept. and get a check up ...like i'm gonna demand an oil change, check on the air filter and check of the suspension and tires before the hard winter begins

Damn man, I get like 180-200 for a half a tank. OBC is saying I'm at 26.4 MPG (2002 325i).

bad gas mileage on 128i

I just bought a 2009 brand new (not a demo) 1 series and the thing drinks gas--- I mean I used to drive an E46 (2000 328ci with 247 k on it) and I used to get 525 km to the tank, so why do I only get 400 or less with this car? Its pathetic and I am taking it back to the dealer. I do have a heavy foot but something is definitely wrong. theres 1300 on the dash now and I have used 200.00 in gas-- makes no sense to me! help!

its not possible this...
O2 or the check the mass fuel.
change of oil or the air filter will not solve this issue, its a technical problem.

Wow the mileage is absolutely terrible. You may be damaging the cats. Your air filter likely looks like a used vacuum bag. I have been experimenting with these odd pills you drop into the tank. We tried them in the 328Cab this summer with regular gas. The car has more pep than it does with high test. The mileage has been improved about 20%! The pills claim to increase mileage up to 33% and the definitely increase the octane rating well up to super. the power increase was the first think I noticed, and after I used two pills after three fill ups the increase was amazing. On a trip to Montreal the highway mileage was increased 22%.
I would take the the 325 to the dealer and plug it in quick.

Check air pressure on the tires, driving mood affects gas milage, AC affects gas milage, type of driving affects gas milage, the speed in which you drive affects gas milage.Get new filters, spark plugs, and clean the injectors.
