Reseting the Alerts

So my lady drives a 00 328 ci..... basically that light that comes on telling her to get her oil changed came on, she took it to a shop and they didnt re-set the light for her. is there a way to do this ourselves rather than taking it back to the shop or the dealership. I had heard somewhere that you can do it with a wire or something?

There is a way. I can't remember how, I have the steps in my glove box. It;s just a bunch of button pressing. do a google search.
