| thanks it came out real well. Unfortunately im not sure about the brand. My friend bought it from a local shop and i got it from him. I think it was made in Indonesia and fitment is really good. I hear VIS makes a good CF hood from our cars. As for trunk, i wanted to do CSL CF with another coat of topaz pearl. Anyways good luck on the hood, what color is your car?

| you guy buy CSL carbon fiber boot lid for less than the one that is made by BMW, check E46FANATICS.COM... thats where im usually at, they got everything in the classifieds, become a member if you havent yet and do a search ...i think a Carbon Fiber CSL trunk runs for 800 bucks..

| Damn PJS your car is amazing. Your hood looks sweet, fitment looks good too. So you painted over it to give it that colour? I have the VIS hood and I love it, fitment is good but from what I've seen of carbon fibre it does flex a little bit so it never lines up 100% on the edges like the factory hood, they always seem to bulge a little (very small, but from what ive seen always a little bit), so If you painted it, it would probably be a little bit noticeable but would still look good if you bought a quality hood.

| Aftermarket Carbon fiber typically has a clear gel coat that is very easily prepped for paint, we manufacture without the gelcoat to reduce weight in our E46/E36 racing components as our 4.5lb full out racing hood could have gained nearly 40% in weight just in gel coat as by the nature of mnay clear gel coats they need to be thick in order to maintain surface integrity, though just about any company would add a gel coat (including us) if they don't produce the part with it pre-existing. The gel coat does a few things that are beneficial to street use as well as aid in uniform paint distribution and reduce use of surfacers (primer/sealers). |
