| E46 steptronic trans problem What causes the steptronic trans's to go into limp mode? By this i meen that the gear with the exclamation point turned on and now my trans will only use one forward gear. I think it is 2nd or 3rd. Anybody know?

| gear with exclamation mark? uhhh you do mean the DSC light that turns on where the odometer is? Basically its the DSC light...meaning your car is losing tracking and the car wont let you accelerate until traction is regained...the car stabilizes itself by proportioning the throttle and which wheels have traction i believe... thats probably why when the light comes on, you arent really accelerating until the car can get traction again

| The dsc light is on and also where the gear indicator for park, reverse, neutral, and drive is i have a gear with an exclamation point that turns on to the left of whatever gear the car is in. Are they both linked?
