Leaky Evaporator on E46; seaking advice I had the A/C system checked last week, and the diagnosys was that the evaporator is leaking. i hear a hissing sounds coming from inside the dash with the warm air. The system pressures are 28psi on the low side, and 100 on the high side, indicating a leak. the system has a dye in it, but no leaks are visible, leaving the evaporator as the only culprit. This is a costly repair, and i'm not willing to pay for it, so my question, for you experts out there, is this: Should I attempt to use a a/c leak sealant as an alternative? This may be a controversial subject, but since I don't know anything about the subject, please bear with me, no flaming... thanks.

i understand that this can be a very costly repair. however i recomend you stay away from any sealants of any kind. they will fix the problem for a while but it may come back and clog the a/c system completly. especially with a/c system and the parts being so expensive. i would not want to see you need all new componets. i would recomend just getting the evaporator fixed.

ok. I was afraid that might happen with those products. I will probably just sell the car. $1800 is too much to fix it, I'll see what I can get for it at the stealer. Thanks a lot for the reply
