| Bent valves I just got word from my shop that I'm not getting compression in #1 cyl.. They figure its going to be the same for the rest of them, so they say I have bent valves.. My question is.. Where would I be able to buy the parts I need and how hard is the job? Does anyone know?? thanks.. |

| well it sux big time.. so far the pre-quote is at $3200 for parts and labor.. thats not even checking to see if I need new pistons or not.. They tear it apart friday.. I'm really debating on doing this myself.. save some major money.. I have plenty of friends that have done engine rebuilds on all kinds of imports, just not bmw.. |

| and your having this on a 2001 330?how many miles are on the car. I reset all the valves on my honda it wasnt hard at all, just need the right gap between the valves. i dont know about the pistons if its your second car i would attempt it, but if you drive the car every day you just might want someone else to do it, you pay more but it might be worth it.....good luck

| thx.. yeah this is my daily driver.. the car has 103000 on it but the motor is out of an 03 and only has 20000 on it.. The original motor blew due to that damn oil pump bolt.. Now this.. I can't seem to win.. lol.. |

| Well i dont know what happened with my car but i had bent valves on my 04 325i back in may and they just didnt want to replace them so they started changing ignition coils, and they gave it back then they tried some other parts and finally did the valves, and now im good to go. Now im starting to wonder has anyone else had any problem with valves?

| the funny thing is, I contacted the stealership where I used to get my work done to my car and started putting together a price list.. They said they have never done a valve job at the stealership.. Guy said that if they have bent valves from a "moneyshift" or mechanical over rev.. They just put a new motor in.. They don't even bother with it.. Nice to know.. |
