| I was under the impression that all 5- and 6-speed E46ers came with a CDV from the factory. I bought mine used and, during a visual under-body inspection, saw that the previous owner had already removed the CDV for me. Such a nice bloke! The only way to find out is to get under there and take a look: http://www.bmw325i.net/cdv_removal.shtml

| I just removed my CDV on my 02 M3 last weekend. I have to remove some plastic underbody panels to get to it but it was an easy job. I did have to get my wife to help bleed the clutch line. About 2-3 pedal pumps/bleeds and no more air. I can really tell a difference but not overly dramatic, just a more natual feeling clutch. My build date was 10/01 BTW. |

| ive been told its to soften the "impact" of the clutch engaging the tranny. i know with my e30, when i drop the clutch there is a jerk in the acceleration. so im assuming thats theyre way of solving that problem with the newer bmw's.

Basically, it's like a tollbooth between you and your clutch; It's a useless invention just put there to slow things down and piss you off.

| let me just say..i hope you have your dual stage traction control turned off from both stages before "dropping" the clutch...i assume you are tryin to peel out, eh?

| The only way to tell is to look for it. My build date is 10/01 on a 2002 M3. It was there and I was excited so I could take the F-n thing off! Make sure you have all the tools including the flair wrench. I used a small pair of needle-nose vice grips with elec tape wrapped around the ends to pich the rubber clutch line, only lost a few drops of fluid but had to open and close the bleeder a few time to get the air out with my wife's help. You will need to bleed the clutch line. |
