| Steptronic? whats the deal with automatics in maual mode? steptronic shifting isn;t it called? is it good? does it shift quickly. whats up with it?

| i would rather an smg i have a 330ci convert and use the steptronic every time i drive it, its good but not great (upshifts are good but downshifts are too slow and hesitant at times) |

| I have a steptronic. I would not reccomend it unless you do a lot of city driving. 95% of my driving is stop start. The gear box is so so so so so SLOW, it takes around 2 seconds, to shift down. and as soon as it hits the red line it changes up a gear. |

| yeah. i have steptronic on mine. i dont like it. like what the guy said above me. takes 2 seconds to shift up. and the downshifts take wayy too long to take effect. they're some amount of control i guess but when it reaches red line sometimes it shifts up automatically. which is pretty gay. nothing is better than a manual tranny. |

| i've got steptronic too, its pretty slow, but can still over some fun, its really more of a marketing gimic to try to get people to think the car is sportier, on just about every other automatic car u can shift it too, in our old mercedes the shifter has a certain grate to it and is designed to be shifted even though its an auto |
