seatbelt tension very loose - how to improve?

hi I've got an E46 323 Coupe. The driver's side seatbelt tension is very loose ie. it doesn't retract into it's housing when the seatbelt is taken off. is there a quick fix to this problem?

The problem lies in the retractor assmbly the recoiling spring is weak only fix is to buy a new seat belt.I have seen this problem many of times, the only way to fix it is, buy a new one.
