330i with M3 engine

my friend has a 2001 330xi with automatic and he dropped in an M3 engine, if he wants to get performance mods, such as intake or chip, he has to get it for the M3 right, but for exhaust can he get an M3 performance exhaust or an 330i performance exhaust

meanies , maybe it was a special dealer, but anyways, the m3 exhaust is duel pipes which won't fit on a 330 since 330 is single exhaust. He has to do some modification to the 330 to fit the m3 exhaust. I hope that answered your question. BTW, your friend should sell the 330 if he can and use that money to get a real m3 plus have money left over. Yes it won't be a new m3 but ill be a real m3.

The reason he did that is because he wanted M3 power but a 4 door car with AWD and also insurance would be less

trust me i know alot more about cars then him, he ordered his car from bmw and they sent it to some tuner, it may have been dinan im not sure and they installed the engine and had to make some adjustments to make it fit, i dont understand what the big deal is to drop in an M3 engine. I seen the car with my own eyes, if i had a camera i would take a picture for u, if u dont believe me i dont care, i just thought u guys could help because he wanted to add performance mods to the engine and to get an exhaust but wasnt sure which would fit

since I own a lowly E36 I may not know (I probably don't) but would the auto from a 330 work with a M3 engine. And would the swap be that hard. I know alot of guys who have puut M engines in their 328s (mine included) to trick the insurance companies, are E46 so much harder that it's unbelivable for this swap to work?
