Even if ur in automatic mode and in 5th gear and floor it the thing automatically drops 2 gears and double clutches 4 you. Plus it shifts so fast its increadible!!! well i just wanna know what you guys think about it |

| Picked my coupe up 2 weeks ago. Enlight of the higher than normal engine failures on the M3, I'm adhering to the break in rules. So I've been driving it like I've got my mom in the car. God it's hard though, to drive it gently. You can tell that engine wakes up at 3 grand, just as I've got to shift. . Been taking the SMG through it's passes though, and I just love it. In S1 in auto, it starts in 2nd gear, and shifts softly, almost like a lazy auto. Turn it up to S5, and she shifts very quickly. Find that in S5, I have to go manual, because the shift points are too high in the RPM's in auto. I'm finding that I'm using the auto more than using the manual. Got to admit that most of the time, I'm not racing anyone. Love the SMG, find that it gives you the best of both worlds, the convenience of an auto, and the advantages of a standard whenever required. I even had my wife drive the M3 in auto mode, (she refuses to drive standard), and she said it felt just like a standard, other than the car being in neutral when you take your foot off the gas. (Car rolls before you get on the gas if your on an incline). I'm hoping that someone can reprogram the computers on the NA version to have the 'Acceleration Assistance' feature the M3 has in the European version. That Honda S2000 I met on the road last week better hope he doesn't run into me again, when I've broken the car in. He obviously wanted to play, but I had to decline.... . Next time, he won't be so lucky. |

| Well I love the SMG. I couldn't ask for anything more. As far as the "acceleration assist" or Launch control the U.S. version does have it well in a toned down version it revs only to 1800 rpm I belive more on this can be found doing a search. Enjoy and happy motoring ![]()

| US version has Acceleration Assistance (aka Launch Control). DSC off, S6, hold smg lever forward, stomp on gas. RPM will jump and stay at 1800. release lever and hang on. there are 2 modes of LC. Burn-out and Race mode. selection of which mode depends on how fast you step on the gas. Burn-Out = stomp it hard and fast as you can. Race = flooring it pretty fast but not as fast as stomping. ![]() Hill Assistant to stop slipping back is also available. when stopping on an incline, hold the left paddle or smg lever forward although you are already in 1st gear, for 2 secs or more. there is no indicator that says you are engaged hill assistant. just the change in rev when it engages. hope that helps and enjoy your smg!!! I sure do! |
