Question for BMWM3DTM (Rudi)

Rudi, I notice that your engine does not have a fan near the radiator...how come? Is this safe? doesn't the engine overheat?
what is the purpose of having it and is there a benefit of not having it?

do you have air conditioning?

He Rob that´s simply. He is sitting in front of the cooler. That´s standard at the german M3 versionen. There is a elektrik fan.

Rob let me see a pic of your engine. The fan in front of you engine cost about 5-8hp. Change to a fan of the german M3.

It's ok to take off that fan when you're racing or doing something that involves moving at a good speed and not stopping for too long. The fan right there is mainly for cooling the car when you're stopped, since when you're moving the air flowing throughout the engine cools it down.

If you do it while you're racing, make sure you put the hood up when you're done to make sure the engine gets cooled down since their will be no fan to cool it.

No, we have a fan.too. There is sitting a elektrik fan in front of the cooler.

Granted, maybe this is something other people could benefit from discussing. But the subject line is a direct violation of the rules already posted by the moderators. Where's the consistency?!

Don't misunderstand - I'm merely pointing out the flaws in this system. I don't care that you posted this publicly. Maybe other people had thought about this, or noticed it and not asked Rudi about it. This just goes to show that shutting down posts based on the subject line alone is a stupid policy.

Yes Rob the elektrik fan is better, so your engine have more horsepower. The normal fan that you have cost hp!!!

BtW: I wait that you take new rims and the warsteiner decals on your car.Hahaha

Here's a pic I dug up with an electric fan in front of the rad..pretty neat!!

I think this is gonna be my next upgrade.

the fan we have is operated with a clutch, and at speed it disengages. There is no real HP gain with the removal. Just a lot less stuff in the engine bay so its eaiser to work on.. thats the main reason I diched my ac, to get to my Timing Chain Tensioner.

I like it without the clutch fan, but after sitting in bay area traffic last week and my engine reaching the 3/4 mark, I won't remove mine...
