1995 M3 - Gas Mileage is Down & other issues. Help!

My E36 M3 is ailing. My gas mileage use to average 23-25 MPG but in the last 6 months has dropped to 18-22 MPG. Driving habits remain the same. (Drive hard and fast whenever possible.)

My car also acts differently when it is wet. When I wash it or it is exposed to rain it starts with some hesitation and doesn't turn over as crisply as when it is dry.

Is this some indication of a fire problem?


Any help is appreciated.

Also, last year the airconditioning was so cold you could see the condensation as it came out of the vents. This year it is blazing hot (as if the heat is on...) I assume these problems are unrelated but what do you think?

My car can't get in to my mechanics (Ress Motor Works in Indianapolis - the best around!) until early next week. Any suggestions from you guys?

Well, last summer in my Ford (boo) Explorer , when i had the A/C on i thought condensation was coming out of the vents. But it was actually anti-freeze leaking into the heater core. so it was antifreeze mist coming out of the vents NOT condensation, had to get a new heater core. Too much antifreeze and you'll go blind and/or some other complications

After i wash my car it has dificulty starting but i really don't go on spirited drives after i wash but the rought start is usally due to water in the electrical wires and such under your hood when you spray water in there to wash. Just make sure the drain right below your windshield isn't clogged so water can drain and not get into your firewall and ECU and circuts etc.
