| food for thought what other parts has the owner replaced on the car? If he's been able to get away with just radiator/waterpump, then i'd say he hasn't driven the car hard at all. I bought my 95 with 44,443 miles on it. I drove it hard, and it didn't give me any problems for two years. Now, at 92k, i've finding a lot of parts need to be replaced no doubt due to my aggressive driving behavior. I've had a head gasket blow, wheel bearings die, clutch fried, starter die on me, radiator blow up on me, and a bunch of other little stuff.
Again, if he's only had to change the radiator/water pump and he's got 150k, the car has most likey been driven easily.
On the flip side, since the radiator/water pump is the only thing he's changed, then you have to consider that the car mostly likey has a lot of parts that are just waiting to fail after some abuse. After all, the car does have 150k. However, if you go and buy a lower milage car, say 60-70k, you won't really know how the car has been driven, ie aggressively or not. If we assume the worst case senario, and say the car had been driven hard, then that means you only have about 20k tops before you have to start replacing parts left and right. Also, a lowe milage car will cost more initially than this 150k mile M3.
I'd say the best thing would be to find a car that already had a bunch of stuff replaced. That might signify hard driving, but that also means all those parts are new and the car will keep up for a while, granted the engine is in good shape. Moreover, don't be too reluctant of a car that has been driven hard. Just make SURE the car has been maintained VERY well. I drive my car hard, and i mean hard, ask anyone i know. But i also maintain the little bitch...relgiously. At 92k, the car has never felt stronger, and i'm not just saying that. The engine pulls like a mofo and overall, doesn't feel a day older than when i first got her.
Take my words into consideration. Above all else, try to get a car that will give you the least amount of repair bills and don't worry too much about milage. Good luck.
