98 ///M3 vs C5

a couple of years ago i was driving in queens with my then fiance, future sister in law and their cousin in my ride when a guy in his late 40s or so pulled up in C5. We were stopped on the service road of the LIE in Long Island City heading east (for those of you who know the area). I was feeling cocky not thinkin that I had no chance against this cat even if I had no one else in the car besides me. At the time all I had was a Kirban/K&N intake and HKS exhaust. So I started revving my engine up and he looked at me and started smiling. Of course the peanut gallery was encouraging me, saying stuff like u can take him

The light turns green and the guy hauled ass like i was standing still... And I just shut down after shifting into second.

Thumbs up

Glad to hear an honest fellow! I have a Bimmer now, but I've had 5 TPI GM's, and the latest being a C4 Vette. So, obviously I think my Bimmer is the shiznit now, but I have to keep it real and give the props to the musclecars in a straight line. Heck, I wouldn't even race most of those old farts in my 91 Esprit SE, even though it was 4.7 0-60 stock, and I had it modded out. I don't think the half-shafts or clutch could take the launch, so I basically couldn't drag race anyone, even though I'd smoke nearly everything on the road. That was a bummer, I didn't even bother. On a rolling start though, I could reel anything that posed a threat in double-time.
