Lifters...how should they feel?

Hey guys,

I am about to put my lifters back in the M. I pressed on a few of the lifter pistons and a couple of them pump up and down very easily and others won't budge at all with the press of a thumb. How should they be and do I need to prime these before I set em back in?

Should not be able to compress.

As for priming, I've never done it on the two cars I've worked on with hydraulic lifters and they run well soo...
