yeah first of all you wanna make the most of the power thats already there before adding more, a standard airbox and exhaust restrict noise but also restrict airflow and airflow = BHP!! as long as you dont mind a bit more noise ditch those for aftermarket items and already your motor can breathe better! when your trying to drive it hard with standard bits on its like............trying to run the 400mtrs breathing thru a straw!! LOL

I replied to your post in the Forced Induction section, but a general overview would be to check out Turner Motorport, specializing in high performance parts & accessories for BMW and the New MINI at discount prices. they have a wide array of products, and I've always heard good things about them.

Turner Motorsport has some pretty nice pricing on their performance parts...but Bavarian Autosport (BMW Parts and BMW Accessories | Bavarian Autosport) has a special on their aFe cold-air intake where you get a $50 gift cert towards a future purchase. I'm bone stock right now, but seriously contemplating this little addition...

What is general consensus around aFe's products? I heard they spend more on R&D than most other aftermarket performance companies. How does their intake stack up against the Conforti CAI, or others?

Talk to Drew at turner motorsports, He's a great guy & will point you in the direction you want to go. Stay away from forced induction, unless you want to pull the head every 20k or so. It's just a big air pump, so let it breath. See your accounting department for details.

I have found that a light weight flywheel is one of the best mods, other than tires, suspension & brakes.

It not about how fast you go! It's how well you go fast!
The only reason for a straight away is to get you to the next turn.

our forum friend is right, upgrading the fly wheel is one of the best mods you can do, of course together with the clutch.
underdrive pulleys, bigger throttle body, chip and exhaust are another basics you need to do too.
I wanted to change my inyectors for bigger ones, but that means that i need to change the cams too, i think i will not do it yet.
But i will get the oil cooler from tunermotors, and the fly wheel from clutchmasters, brakes kit from namotorwerks,
i am forgetting something? yes, the silicon radiator pipes from bimmerworld, please check it out this last one, they have a really good prices and kits for any upgrades and stock parts.

Easy answer Suspension. A good set of coilovers are going to do more for performance than any intake or exhaust. Then upgrade your brake pads and brake fluid also a good set of tires and wheels and you are good to go.

In order to prevent misleading information, I wanted to point out that injectors are not an area of significant power gain. Merely having larger injectors will only hurt your power output unless you A.) currently need more fuel than your injectors can supply or B.) have retuned the ecu for shorter injector pulsewidths and thus less fuel (as compared to what they would normally supply prior to ecu tuning), in which case it should be pretty obvious that larger injectors are useless unless you need them.

General rule of thumb is you want to keep your injector duty cycle less than 85-90%. Until you're approaching those values, there is no need for larger injectors.

Intake-Exhaust-M50 Manifold. 3.5 hfm - chip - clutch flywheel ... I would also ditch the US headlights - ( they suck - go ellipsoids ) oh yea changing the DIFF will make a major change. Sway bars, wheels and tires.
