| cat delete? my cat on my 95 M3 has a nasty sounding rattle. car runs great, but that cat sounds like shit. thinking of doing a cat delete, im just a bit worried about how loud its gonna get. ware im at we dont have exhaust inspections and cops dont really care about how loud shit is. (u should hear some of the trucks here) anyone have a video of an e36 with no cats, but a muffler on it? or have any experience with it?

| Loud isn't the main problem, the SMOG check is the main culprit. Check with your local inspection point and ask them about the requirements to pass.

| I've never heard what a cat delete sounds like on an m3, but I don't have a cat on my eclipse, and when I put it back on for inspection I don't hear a big difference. The main difference I feel is in power. It's a bit louder, but cats aren't meant for sound level control, just emissions.

| I would not do a cat delete, the reason is being it is a naturally aspirated motor it requires a cetain amount of back pressure, a muffler is usally not enough. That being said you will lose a good amount of torque. if anything just deal with the rattling and save up to buy some nice hi flow cats. |

| Putting in a straight pipe where the cat was will not decrease back pressure enough to hurt the engine, as long as the rest of the exhaust is intact.

| It will definatley lose torque. it will hurt nothing but when I did I noticed it. It did not seem to accelerate as fast. never had a chance to test it at a track, but it bad enough to the point I put them back on. |
