Looking for a 6-Speed Gearbox!!

If anyone can find me a 6-speed gearbox for a 98 m3 let me know. Or if anyone knows if another transmission will work like one out of a 330 or something. Thank you very much.

None of the USA M3's got a 6 speed. The Euro M3 and Evo got a 6 speed. They will bolt in directly, but you will have to use the Euro driveshaft, or have your shortened.

The E46 M3 will fit, but you have to changet the flywheel and clutch, and driveshaft.. Ew ew,,,you need the shifter assembly too.

UUC motorwurks has a very nice how to about using the E46 6 speed.

Zionsville has a complete 6 speed conversion, but it uses the much less robust 6 speed from the E46 330 , and Z4.

get the evo m3 tranny, i believe it is made by Getrag or something like that, its a direct bolt on

E46 M3 6sp > Euro E36 6sp

but the euro e36 is much cheaper.

Is there anywhere in the US to get a used euro 6 speed from an M3 for the e36 M3? I talked to active autowerks and for some reason they recommended that before I selected the package I wanted due to the high horsepower. quite the let down....

Why did you talk to Active Autowerke about the 6 speed tranny? Its funny, but I have one in my garage that needs to be "modified" to work. Basically, there is a member on bf.com that will rebuild it for $500 because I was sold a SMG tranny (told it was a manual). Had it installed, no gate whatsoever, and removed...i have the tranny, driveshaft, UUC EVO II ssk, tranny brace....if you want it, I can find the guy that can build it and I'll take 500 off the price.

I was ordering my supercharger and they realized it was automatic and said dont do it. I had planned on swapping the tranny later but it got put forth per their advice. Who is the guy who has this transmission?? That would be a good start

I have the tranny in my garage......I have to find out who I was talking to that said he rebuilds them as a hobby.
