| 99 M3 smoke from exhaust? Just changed motor and exhaust? I recently bought a 1999 bmw m3 project car, that needed a new motor. I put a new motor in it that had roughly 42k miles on it, I also had to replace the exhaust so I put aused oem exhaust on it. The car was a previous turbo that blew the motor so i swapped everything out and went back to stock. The car runs great, and oulls strong. But I just noticed today that it smokes a little from the tailpipe. It also seems that there is a little moisture or condensation inside the tips?? The spoe is not amajor white cloud or anything like that, but it is definetly noticicble. The color is a little greyish/white What sugesstions do you guys have?? the exhaust was used, could it just be dirty from sitting in a junk yard for a long period of time? ?I have only had my car out of th shop for about 2 days and I have only driven it maybe 100 miles or so?? I am also throwing a code that is P0600?? computer link malfunction, or something like that?? Any help with this would also be great? My on board computer also sayd that I have low coolant, but i checked it and evrything seems fine, i think i just may ahve a bad sensor or something?? Sorry for going on and on, i just want to get to the bottom of all these small problems. The more help the better! |

| the condensation is fairly normal in colder temperatures. does the new motor consume any oil? in terms of that code, i would reset it and see what happens.

| have you driven the car for more than 1k miles since the swap if so check the oil and seen if it is milky if not check the coolant and see if it looks oily. It sounds like the cooland is leaking into a cylinder and getting burned off along with the oil causing it to condensate. It could be a blown motor or it could olso come from sitting. who knows. But check the oil and coolant to see if there is any obious signs before we come to comclusions.

| everything is fine, it was just a real cold day with condensation, and my exhaust was used and was dirty on the inside. After I drove about 100 miles, its now perfect. No smoke at all, everythin is perfect!!! I was just paranoid, so I wanted to be safe. And no I did not do the work myself, I gave it to a pro. |
